Samsung’s Big Bet: Perplexity AI Could Soon be Everywhere on its Devices

According to Bloomberg reports, the South Korean tech Giant is on the verge of finalizing a technology-driven partnership with an AI search technology startup, Perplexity AI Inc.
Once the negotiation process falls into place to make the partnership successful, users might witness Perplexity’s assistants and apps in the upcoming Samsung devices, along with the new AI features in its web browser. As per the reports, the tech giant is also planning to incorporate the Perplexity AI feature into Samsung’s virtual assistant Bixby.
The tech manufacturing company might unveil the Perplexity integration this year while making it a default assistant option in the first half of 2026 with the launch of the Galaxy S26. However, both companies are currently in the deal negotiation phase, and things might change.
Till now, Samsung has heavily relied on Google’s Gemini to offer a range of AI capabilities in its Galaxy AI suite.
Samsung’s Investment in Perplexity
Other than the strategic partnership between the companies, Samsung is also expected to participate in the upcoming funding round of Perplexity as one of the biggest investors. According to sources, Perplexity is planning to raise $500 million at a valuation of $14 billion.
With the collaboration between the tech companies, Samsung’s reliance on Google to incorporate AI capabilities into its devices will decrease. The partnership strategy looks identical to that of Apple Inc.’s approach. Following the recent deal with Motorola, the upcoming partnership would represent the most substantial mobile partnership for Perplexity.
Discussion for the partnership between the two technology companies has been going on since the beginning of the year. Representatives from Samsung and Perplexity have met in South Korea and made excellent progress towards executing the deal.
Along with Samsung’s vision to incorporate Perplexity’s technology into smartphones and Bixby, the company is also planning to build an AI-infused operating system and an app that can integrate the capabilities of this AI platform into other assistants as well.
Apple Inc. About Perplexity
According to Bloomberg News, Apple has also shown interest in collaborating with Perplexity to make it an alternative for Google Search and a substitute for ChatGPT within Siri voice assistance.
Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice-president of services, said during recent testimony at recent Google antitrust trial, “We’ve been pretty impressed with what Perplexity has done, so we’ve started some discussions with them about what they’re doing”.
