Singapore Looks at Applying Agentic AI in Healthcare

Synapxe, National Health Tech Agency of Singapore has recently announced a new set of innovative healthcare applications after receiving investment from the government.
Ministry of Health in Singapore has announced a $150 million funding over five years dedicated to implement AI technologies in the healthcare infrastructure of the country. The project will be focusing at system-wide integration of smart AI solutions to enhance the accuracy and efficiency.
The major goal behind the investment is to automate the repetitive and time consuming tasks like summarization and documentation of medical records. By the end of 2025, the goverment aims at introducing a generative AI powered solution that will automate the tasks like healthcare record updates.
To achieve the goal, Synapse has launched a GenAIus Hub, genAI learning repository, and Synapxe Tandem. The new set of platforms provides the prompt templates that allows testing of genAI applications.
Andy Ta, Synapxe’s chief data officer and director of Data Analytics and AI, stated, “We understand that not all healthcare professionals are comfortable using some of these technologies, especially in the newer fields like AI, largely due to a lack of familiarity or confidence in using these tools. To address this, Synapxe seeks to support public healthcare institutions by equipping them with the knowledge and the platforms to enable them to tap into AI and its tools more easily in their work”.
The company is also organising the healthy competitons that motivates the healthcare professionals to use genAI solution in their real-life practices and use large language models through a gamified approach.

As part of the GenAI application that will help generate content, the Government of Singapore is also planning to explore and deploy agentic AI solutions in healthcare that will further automate the processes and require the least human intervention. Talking about the new technology, Ta shared, “One area of particular interest in the coming years is the use of agentic AI, which has the potential to revolutionize healthcare by performing tasks autonomously with decision-making capabilities and goal-directed behavior”.
“This innovative approach allows AI systems to adapt to new situations and interact dynamically with their environment. By exploring agentic AI, we aim to enhance decision-making processes, improve coordination, and ultimately achieve better outcomes across large-scale healthcare systems,” Ta further explained.
Agentic AI in Healthcare: Implementations So Far
Synapxe has already launched programs that promotes the adoption and integration fo artificial intelligence in healthcare over the past 2 years.
AimSG, an open and vendor-neutral platform, is one of these programs. It allows hospitals and healthcare centers to access different medical imaging AI modles that can be deployed in no-time. For example, Lunit’s chest x-ray solution has been deployed at Changi General Hospital, Singapore General Hospital, and the National Health Group Polyclinics.
Similarly, a cloud-based platform named HEALIX was deployed last year that allows the users to safely access and analyze the data to develop AI models.
