Vocca Raises $5.5M to Bring AI Phone Assistants to Healthcare’s Front Desk Crisis

According to reports, more than 70% of the medical appointments are now made via phone, but most of the patients hang up the phone when the call is put on hold for more than 5 minutes. This gap leads to an annual loss of $150 billion, along with the waste of administrative efforts. At the same time, medical and front-desk staff are often left burned out due to high volumes of patient calls and customer turnover rates.
Recognizing the challenge, Hugo Danet and Eliott Hoffenberg founded Vocca in 2024 with a mission to use artificial intelligence on healthcare reception tasks to enhance patient access. Addressing the firm, Hoffenberg stated, “We resolve more than 80% of requests with no hold time and no human intervention.”
In the recent update, the company has announced its $5.5 million funding round led by Firstminute Capital and Speedinvest, with active participation of FJ Labs, Kima Ventures, and Sequoia Scout, the notable angel investors, playing a big role in the growth and expansion of the firm.
Speaking about the impact, Vocca has now handled over 4 million calls with deployment across more than 2,000 healthcare institutions. Moreover, clinical establishments have reported 70% fewer missed appointments, with a lot of time savings. For instance, a multidisciplinary center thanks AI for saving 11 staff hours daily on phone duties alone.
Similarly, at a hospital in Paris, Vocca has increased the call response rate from 30% to 100% with a significant improvement in patient access. The platform also complies with regulatory standards and compliance like GDPR and HIPAA.
In future plans, Vocca aims to triple its team with an aggressive expansion across Europe and the USA while connecting to over 10,000 practitioners by 2026. Investors seem to be bullish on Vocca’s potential. Sam Endacott of FirstMinute Capital says, “Vocca reduces patient waiting times and boosts provider performance. It feels like a glimpse into the future, where voice and AI transform the way we experience healthcare.”
Andrea Zitna of Speedinvest also stated, “Vocca doesn’t just save time – it changes the daily reality of care teams.”
