Elon Musk to Take Legal Action Against Apple

The innovator, founder of Tesla and SpaceX, and the richest man in the world, Elon Musk, has said that his company is going to take legal action against the tech giant Apple.
Musk shared in a post on X, stating, “Apple is behaving in a manner that makes it impossible for any AI company besides OpenAI to reach #1 on the App Store,” referring to it as an unequivocal antitrust violation.
However, Musk has not provided any evidence or information as of August 12 that supports his claim in the recent post. But it is also true that ChatGPT holds the top spot on the App Store in the USA.
Apple and OpenAI announced the partnership last year that plans to integrate ChatGPT into Apple Intelligence. The collaboration will bring capabilities like document and image understanding to Apple devices.
After Musk’s post on X, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, also turned to the platform and shared a post that says, “This is a remarkable claim given what I have heard alleged that Elon does to manipulate X to benefit himself and his own companies and harm his competitors and people he doesn’t like.”
The share of heavy claims is adding another dimension to the relationship between Altman and Musk, who worked together under the roof of OpenAI.
Altman also added in the post, “I hope someone will get counter-discovery on this, and many others would love to know what’s been happening. But OpenAI will just stay focused on making great products.”
Elon Musk seems to be wrong this time, as people have observed various other AI apps that have topped the charts on the App Store. For instance, DeepSeek, an AI app from China, also grabbed worldwide attention for acquiring the #1 spot on the Apple App Store. Similarly, Perplexity, which is considered a tough competition for ChatGPT, is also ranking #1 on the App Store in India.
